Follow-up about the CLS fundraising email I discussed earlier:

I did get a response from the sender who said he would remove the paragraph denigrating our public schools in future emails and that he would like to speak with me further.

One of my good friends send me the following:
Quote:
last night was the members only meeting, and you will be glad to know that Josh gave a stern reproof to parents who look down on families that choose to educate their kids differently than what they have chosen. He strongly said there is no one right way to educate a child. Homeschooling isn't more godly than CLS and CLS is not more godly than public school. He said that the pastors totally support the families who send their kids to public school. It was a much needed reproof. And I thought you would be pleased.

and here is the url to see the blog/youtube clip http://www.joshharris.com

Why do we stay so long? Why do we still care? I can't speak for others, but I know for me I have tasted and seen the goodness of the LORD at CLC and I have experienced joy in worship, comfort in fellowship, and greater knowledge of the Bible and the Church and of God.

Why did I stay in an abusive marriage so long? For some of the same reasons--and like many, I am "lazy and busy and prone to inertia." It takes what it takes to get out of there. One good friend from work said that CLC is like a beautiful bowl of ice cream that has a spoonful of poop (rigid hierarchy/patriarchy and cultish tendencies) thrown in it. I had to recognize it as such.

I agree about the blend of ice cream and "other stuff". It really helped me to evaluate the good things I had gained by being a member so long, but you are doing better than me! Initially I was so angry about what I seemed to very suddenly realize (the presence of the poop) that it took me quite a while to have as balanced a view as you do. You go, girl! xxoo Margaret
